The Community Children’s Asthma service provides short term specialist support and interventions to children and young people up to the age of 16 years old with an asthma diagnosis, or those who have suspected asthma and are taking asthma treatments.
About the service
The aim of the service is to improve the long term management of asthma in children and young people in order improve quality of life, improve asthma outcomes, subsequently helping to prevent and reduce hospital admissions.
What we do
The service works closely with GPs and hospital respiratory teams:
- To provide initial assessment and on-going telephone or face to face support as needed
- To raise asthma awareness
- Improve and standardise the management of Children’s asthma
- Empower families to manage their child’s asthma at home
- Reduce and Prevent hospital admission
