Training & Development

Continued Professional Development (CPD)
Personal and professional development is key to managing your growth and learning throughout your career, which is why we're incredibly committed to supporting staff with CPD opportunities at all staffing levels, offering activities like on-the-job learning, courses, workshops, volunteering, and e-learning, which in turn facilitates career progression.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare's Academy of Clinical Excellence (ACE) offers a specific focus on the professional development and career progression for registered nurses, nursing associates and AHPs.

ACE focuses solely on your professional educational needs and career journey. Our programmes are developed around your needs and led by a faculty of clinical experts. We work in collaboration with our in-house training teams and local universities to design and develop our learning programmes to ensure you have the skills you need, to have the career you want.

We want you to feel equipped with the right skills and knowledge and give you confidence as a healthcare professional to continue on your journey of life-long learning.

You will have access to Career Navigators who are hand-picked clinical experts from within the Trust who will support you to make informed choices about the direction of your career and learning journey through a one off conversation.

The Academy will provide an opportunity for you to apply for CPD funding of up to £1000 over three years to support you to meet your educational and training requirements.

Our staff are our most valuable asset – their dedication makes the Trust what it is. We have a skilled and diverse workforce to be proud of and we’re committed to their development.

We know that making time for training can be difficult so we have developed a statutory and mandatory training package to make the process quick, easy and memorable. We also have bespoke training programmes specially designed for each team to help you work together effectively.

If you’re a line manager you will also be able to take part in our development programme to hone your skills in a number of areas such as finance, communications, people management and appraisals.

We also have specialist training for conditions such as diabetes and end of life care. These will allow you to access the latest information and clinical guidance to provide the best possible care to your patients and service users.

Revalidation
We’ll help you through nurse revalidation with our bespoke training session and electronic portfolio builder. Your revalidation will also form part of your yearly appraisal so we can help you stay on track.

We understand the challenges that students face in making the transition to becoming a registered professional. For this reason, we have developed a preceptorship programme that will allow this transition to happen safely within your own professional group.

The programme is profession specific and includes a quality improvement project within their clinical areas.

Supervision will form a key part of this transition and our preceptorship programme allows you the time and space to reflect, discuss and learn from your experiences as you take the first steps in your career.
