Please note, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust was formed in 2024 when Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, Solent NHS Trust and some services from Isle of Wight NHS Foundation Trust and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust merged to form a new organisation. Information relating to the new Trust will be published as it becomes available. For now, you may find documents referencing our legacy organisations.

All Trusts are required to publish information on nursing staffing levels in ward based clinical areas, together with the percentage of shifts that meet safe staffing guidelines.

We aim to provide high quality, safe services which improve the health, wellbeing and independence of the people we serve, and as part of ensuring that we get it right, we launched the Safe Staffing Project.  This project uses evidence based tools and methods to build an accurate picture of the shape and size of our workforce, allowing us to better understand our staffing levels and adjust them accordingly. 

As part of this each ward in the Trust also display’s a “Ward Staffing Today” poster showing the planned and actual numbers of staff on shift each day, which is located in an area that can clearly be seen by patients, visitors and staff.

The Trade Union (Facility Time Publication Requirements) Regulations 2017 requires public sector employers to publish information in relation to trade union facility time; this is agreed time off from an individual's job to carry out a trade union role.  Facility time may be used, for example, to negotiate with employers in relation to pay/terms & conditions of employment; to discuss service changes, transfers and potential redundancies; to support individuals with employee relations issues such as grievance and disciplinary hearings; and to provide information and advice about learning and training matters.

We are required to publish a summary each year and the table below shows figures for Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust for 2022/23 and 2023/24, we have also included Solent NHS Trust's figures for 2022/23 before the merger that created Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. From 2025 the figures will be combined to include both Trusts.

Fraud is an act of deception that is intended to make a financial gain or to cause a loss to another party. Bribery is generally defined as the giving or receiving of a financial or other advantage in exchange for improperly performing a relevant function or activity.

The Trust employs a specialist counter-fraud service to provide a comprehensive programme against fraud, bribery and corruption which is overseen by the Trust’s Finance Director and the Audit, Risk and Assurance Committee.

The Trust has a zero-tolerance approach to fraud, bribery and corruption and is committed to applying the highest standards of ethical conduct and behaviour, as well as having robust controls in place to prevent fraud and corruption. As well as staff, the Trust also expects its suppliers to adhere to the same high standards.

Our dedicated policies set out our expectations and guidance for staff, contractors and anyone else working with or for the Trust with regards to preventing fraud, bribery and corruption, and raising concerns.

We ask all who have dealings with the Trust, as employees, agency staff, trading partners (contractors/suppliers), stakeholders and patients, to help us in our fight against fraud and corruption and to contact us immediately if any concerns arise. No individual will suffer any detrimental treatment as a result of reporting reasonably held suspicions. The success of the Trust’s anti-fraud and corruption measures depends on everyone playing their part.
