Our wards

Rose Ward is a 16-bed ward providing care for older people who have acute mental health needs and are unable to look after themselves or be looked after at home.

Visiting: please telephone the ward before you attend so that they can advise you of current visiting hours and procedure. Carers/relatives may escort patients to other parts of the hospital (such as the restaurant, gardens or shop) and there is a telephone on the ward for patients and visitors (02382 318008) until 8.00pm each evening.

Poppy Ward is a 14-bed ward providing care for older people who have acute mental health needs and are unable to look after themselves or be looked after at home. Most patients have memory needs e.g. dementia.

Poppy Ward received a full rebuild in 2021 eradicating the former dormitory layout and replacing it with 14 ensuite rooms and three garden areas. It is also full of the latest technology, including:

  • wayfinding colours
  • noise reduction
  • electronic wristbands that ensure patients can only enter their own rooms, promoting privacy, dignity and safety
  • de-escalation space.

We promote Johns Campaign which promotes a policy welcoming family carers onto the wards outside of the normal visiting times, according to the needs of the person with a dementia and not restricted by stated visiting hours.

If you need to contact Poppy Ward you can call 02382 318005
