St Mary’s Hospital provides the following acute services.
Based at the heart of the Island, St Mary’s Hospital in Newport is our main base for delivering acute services for the Island’s population. Services include:
- Emergency Department (A&E
- Urgent Treatment Centre by referral only
- Emergency medicine and surgery
- Planned surgery
- Intensive care
- Comprehensive maternity
- Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) and paediatric services with 986 births last year.
- It also provides the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service (IWAS)
A number of community and mental health services are also delivered from this site, including:
- Acute Mental Health Services (based at Sevenacres Wards)
- Community Rehabilitation Services (based at Laidlaw Ward)
- Orthotics and Prosthetic
- Community Podiatry
- Physiotherapy, including Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
- Rehab Recovery and Unplanned Care
