The Perinatal Mental Health Team provides a specialist service for the assessment and treatment of women with severe mental health problems in pregnancy and around the birth.

This service provided covers Hampshire and Southampton.

Contact with the perinatal service can continue up to the baby's first birthday where needed. However, the service will look to joint work with the Community Mental Health Teams and to handover care when the perinatal-specific support, such as prescribing in pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding and work on attachment, has been completed.
