About the service
The Tuberculosis Screening and BCG Vaccination Centre is a community nursing team which provides screening for tuberculosis, support to patients with tuberculosis and neonatal BCG vaccination.
What we do
The Tuberculosis Screening and BCG Vaccination Service provides the following:
- new entrant screening for active and latent TB
- screening of symptomatic patients and referral to TB Consultants
- neo-natal BCG vaccination
- support for patients with Tuberculosis including monitoring of medication
Accessing the service
You can refer via email to TBSouthampton@solent.nhs.uk from other NHS net email addresses (healthcare professionals).
We accept referrals for:
- Patients with symptoms of Tuberculosis requiring screening (mantoux, quantiferon, chest x-ray)
- Patients newly arrived from countries with a TB prevalence of 150 or more per 100,000
- Neo-nates or children aged under 16 with parents or grandparents from countries with a TB prevalence of 40 or more per 100,000 - for BCG vaccination.
