The Isle of Wight Community Respiratory Service is a Nurse and Allied Healthcare Professional led service covering the whole of the Isle of Wight.
We work alongside hospital Doctors and GPs with the management and rehabilitation of patients with complex chronic lung disease such as:
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Asthma
- Bronchiectasis
- Interstitial Lung Disease
- Long Covid
We also provide Teaching and specialist respiratory support for community practitioners.

Accessing the service
Pulmonary Rehabilitation
You should be referred to this pathway of the service by your healthcare professional.
Oxygen Assessment and Review
You should be referred to this pathway of the service by your healthcare professional, usually if your resting oxygen levels are constantly below 92% or if your oxygen levels drop when you are active. We cannot offer oxygen if you are smoking or someone smokes in your home.
Community Respiratory Specialist Nurse / Clinical Lead Role
Referral is made by GPs please contact your GP surgery or from the Hospital consultants.
Hospital In Reach
We take referrals from acute ward areas for patients with long term respiratory conditions or new diagnosis.
Respiratory physiotherapy
Referral is made by GPs please contact your GP surgery or from the Hospital consultants.
Long Covid
We take referrals from GPs, Occupational Health, Respiratory Consultants, Respiratory Specialist Nurses, and Physiotherapist.
