About the service
Admiral Nurses provide the specialist dementia support that families need. When things get challenging or difficult, our Nurses work alongside people with dementia, their families and carers: giving one-to-one support, expert guidance and practical solutions. The unique dementia expertise and experience an Admiral Nurse brings is a lifeline - it can help families to live more positively with dementia in the present and to face the challenges of tomorrow with more confidence and less fear.
We provide support over the telephone, at your home, and in clinic settings. We also run weekly carer focused Memory Cafes which are open to anyone caring for someone living with dementia. Please contact us for more details.
Accessing the service
The Admiral Nursing Service is open to people who are caring for someone with dementia and struggling to cope. The carer or the person living with dementia must be registered with a Southampton City GP to access the service.
We accept self-referrals as well as referrals from health and social care professionals. The referrals can be made by telephone, letter, or email.
You can drop in to one of our Memory Cafes, which are open to anyone caring for someone living with dementia, even if you have not been referred to the service. Please contact us for more details.
