The Willow Group: appointments

High street pharmacists can provide a variety of services without the need to see a doctor or nurse first.

If you, or your child, have any of the following

  • cold or flu symptoms
  • sore throat
  • cough
  • sinusitis
  • diarrhoea
  • skin or rash issues including infected insect bites
  • hay fever
  • earache (otitis media)
  • shingles
  • urinary tract infection (UTI)

you can go to your local pharmacy to get treatment.

Need to discuss something with a doctor, nurse or other healthcare provider? Click the button below to request an appointment and get the advice you need. Once you submit the form, you will get a response by the end of the next working day.

If you are unable to use the form, another person can do it on your behalf, or you can telephone us on 023 9200 5450. If the form is not available and the issue is a same day need that cannot wait, you can contact the surgery on 023 9200 5450. You can also seek help from: https://111.nhs.uk or contact your local pharmacy. Our calls are recorded for training and monitoring purposes.

After you have submitted your form, there is an optional satisfaction survey. We would be grateful if you complete it.

When we receive your form, a doctor, nurse or other healthcare provider will read it. They will assess it for urgency and direct it to the best team to deal with it.

Depending upon the nature of your enquiry, you may receive a telephone call or text message from us on the same day.

Urgent appointments

If you have a new or worsening illness, we have appointments available on the day. You can request one by completing our online form using the button below.

Routine appointments

If you want to discuss an existing condition with a doctor, nurse, or other healthcare provider, you can click the same button below. A routine appointment is not urgent but we may still contact you the same day. Appointments are also available evenings and weekends.

From Wednesday 1 October, we extended our online consultation provision from 8am to 6.30pm. This is in line with new NHS England guidance.

Cancelling appointments

If you no longer need or are unable to get to your appointment, please cancel it so someone else can use it.

There are a few ways to cancel appointments:

  • online using NHS app or Patient Access
  • clicking the link in the appointment reminder text message
  • clicking the request an appointment button above and selecting 'cancel an appointment'
  • calling 023 9200 5450 and following the automated prompt

Directly bookable appointments

We have two appointment types that you can book online using NHS app or Patient Access:

  • blood tests
  • smears

For both, you will need to have been asked to book beforehand. Appointments are also available during evenings and weekends.

If you are unable to get to the surgery, and feel you need a home visit, click the request an appointment button above and select the Home visit tile. Someone else can do this for you if you are not able. You can also telephone us on 023 9200 5450 and ask for a home visit.

You will need to provide some information about your condition for us to assess the urgency of your request.

Once we have your details, a doctor, nurse or other healthcare provider will call you back.

Please place your request as early as you can.

We offer group consultations to help you manage and review your long-term condition. You will get to meet with your healthcare team as well as fellow patients with similar issues.

You’ll start with a one-to-one consultation. Afterwards, you’ll join a group discussion. There may be the sharing of some information such as blood pressure and test results. This will help you get the most out of the session.

Meeting other people with the same condition allows you to support each other. Patients often prefer group consultations over shorter, rushed appointments.

Your group consultation lasts around 60-90 minutes. Upon arrival, you may need to complete some pre-session paperwork. Then our facilitator will greet you and guide you through the session.

You will need to sign a consent form on the day of the meeting. An example form is below for your reference.

We know group consultations improve health outcomes for people living with multiple conditions. We look forward to seeing you at your appointment.
