Urology Prescribing Services to reach new patients in Southampton and the New Forest

11 April 2025

The Community Urology and Stoma Appliance Prescribing Team (CUSAP) at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is expanding their urology services to reach new patients in West Hampshire, a service that was previously provided by GPs.

The expansion, which is due to start from late Spring 2025, will see the team introduce their services to patients in Southampton and the New Forest, along with their current work in Portsmouth, Mid and North Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

The team of specialist nurses and administrative staff is responsible for prescribing and reviewing all urology appliances, including indwelling catheters, intermittent catheters, catheter bags and sheaths.

Lead nurse, Joanne Williams, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the service we provide to patients in Portsmouth, Mid and North Hampshire and the Isle of Wight and we’re confident that by extending our reach, it will ensure that patients receive consistent, equitable, high quality care, no matter where in the county they live.”

The team also helps signpost patients to key resources as well as advice and support to other healthcare professionals, carers and families.

Access to the service is through referral only, and the team can be contacted on 0300 003 0776 or SHFTcontinenceproducts@southernhealth.nhs.uk.
