For the second year running, Phil Evans, consultant nurse practitioner and clinical lead for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS FT attended NHS England's winter drop in event for MPs to attend and hear about NHS England's plans to handle winter pressures whilst delivering high quality patient care. NHS CEO Amanda Pritchard was there to give an overview of the plans and highlight what virtual wards and hospital at home services can do across the country looking at the technology and the capability of the NHS to look after patients at home, particularly during the winter months, and avoid hospital admissions.
Phil, who is based in South West Hampshire and leads on virtual wards and hospitals at home, was able to demonstrate to MPs the equipment used the cardio mobile ECG device, point of care testing equipment enabling our clinicians to treat people at home and avoid hospital admissions. Around 50 MPs attended a very busy session and were very interested to hear about the different models of hospital at home.
Phil commented: "It was really really busy and it was great to see such positive engagement from the MPs, including Joe Robertson MP for Isle of Wight East who is very keen to support these models of care across Hampshire in any way he can".
