Since opening its doors a year ago today, dedicated and skilled staff at Jubilee House in Cosham have carried more than 8,000 appointments, supporting local Portsmouth residents with a wide range of Musculoskeletal (MSK) needs.
Jubilee House, a former inpatient facility, underwent a major renovation in 2023, to offer numerous MSK services including physiotherapy, pelvic health, adolescent MSK, falls prevention and pain management in a tranquil community setting instead of its previous location in an acute hospital setting.
Staff today took a few moments to mark the anniversary, by joining together over some tea and cake.
A real strength of Jubilee House is how patients of all ages can access various MSK clinics and appointments all under one roof. Another important part of Jubilee House is the presence of dedicated Adolescent Clinic rooms with wall art.
The green, community-based setting has been really valued by patients. One patient admitted: “The setting of Jubilee House is beautiful and calming, an oasis of calm.”
Another service user, Debbie, shared: “I had my physio session with Stephan – what a lovely place that is. He was brilliant. He spent time assessing me and putting me to the test in the gym with the Bosu and foam balance board. He’s given me some exercises to do which should stop the problem from recurring. He was very thorough.”
Chief Medical Officer, Dan Baylis, said: “Congratulations to the Jubilee House team – what a fantastic first year thanks to your hard work and dedication. Jubilee House is a shining example of multidisciplinary MSK services being located together, enabling healthcare staff to care for those who often have more than one clinical need or condition. In enhancing how we deliver outpatient care by joining up specialties, seen with Jubilee House, we are modernising and shaping community healthcare in the most effective ways for everyone to lead their healthiest lives.”
MSK Operational Lead, Sally Frost, added: “I’m incredibly proud of how colleagues have embraced working in the new environment of Jubilee House. Over the past twelve months, we have realised a lot of benefits - not only for how we are able to work more cohesively as healthcare professionals but ultimately how that then ensures every service user receives high quality, personalised care and treatment for their short, mid or long term needs.
“I’m extremely positive about the year ahead, with us solidifying these improved ways of working, really building on the best practice identified so far and continuing to care for local people.”
