Physiotherapy

We operate across Hampshire and the easiest and quickest way to access our Physiotherapy services is to self-refer.

To self-refer to Physiotherapy you must:

  • Be aged 16 or over
  • Be registered with a Portsmouth, Southampton or Eastleigh Southern Parish surgery
  • Have a musculoskeletal (MSK) pain/condition

If you live in Southampton, Portsmouth and the Eastleigh Southern Parish area you can self-refer using the button below.

For all other areas in South Hampshire, you can self-refer using the button below.

Alternatively, your GP can refer you into the Physiotherapy service.

If you live in Portsmouth or Southampton, paper self-referral form is also available in your GP Practice or from the Physiotherapy Departments in Portsmouth (Jubilee House and St Mary's Community Health Campus) or Southampton (Adelaide Health Centre and Moorgreen Hospital). You can fill in the paper form and follow the attached instructions.

The MSK self-referral service will be closing outside of our operational hours. Self-referral will be open and available to complete Monday 8:00 am through to Friday 4:00 pm.  The service will also be closed to self-referrals on Bank Holidays.

Please consult NHS 111 urgently if you have recently or suddenly developed:

  • Difficulty passing urine or controlling bladder/bowels
  • Numbness or tingling around your back passage or genitals
  • Numbness, pins and needles or weakness in both legs

Please discuss with your GP before submitting this referral if you:

  • Are feeling generally unwell/fever
  • Have any unexplained weight loss
  • Have a history of cancer
  • Have recently become unsteady on your feet

Please contact 111 if you have any ill health that you think is of an urgent nature and for which you think you need medical assistance.

Hydrotherapy

The Hydrotherapy service does not accept self-referrals, or referrals directly from GPs.

To access Hydrotherapy in Portsmouth or Southampton, you will need to be assessed by a physiotherapist who can refer into the service if clinically indicated.
