We offer a range of services to people across Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
Musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy services are science-based professions that take a ‘whole person’ approach to health and well being, which includes the patient’s general lifestyle. At the core is the patient’s involvement in their own care, through education, awareness, empowerment and participation in their treatment.
Our MSK clinicians help people affected by pain, injury or disability through movement and exercise, education, advice and manual therapy if indicated. They aim to help to encourage development and facilitate recovery; enabling people to stay in work and helping them remain independent for as long as possible.
We have an MSK team across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight who can assess and treat musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions including back and neck pain, other joint pains, muscle pains and arthritis.

Specialist MSK services
Our specialist team is made up of advanced practice physiotherapists and podiatrists who are highly skilled in specialist assessment and management of musculoskeletal disorders.
- Expert examination to people who are referred by their physiotherapist or GP team
- Specialist advice, education, treatment or treatment planning
- If needed, investigations such as x-ray or MRI and referrals to other specialists such as Orthopaedics or Rheumatology
They are guided by up-to-date research and follow national standards of best practice as well as shared-decision making and local guidance to help you achieve your health goals.
Our specialist MSK team will undertake a thorough history and examination regarding your complaint. We may decide to send you for further tests, which may include:
- ultrasound scan
- x-ray
- MRI
- nerve conduction testing
- blood tests
We will do this if they are necessary in establishing a diagnosis or identifying further treatment options for you.
We will discuss all your treatment options with you to establish a tailored plan of care. For specific conditions, we may offer a corticosteroid injection as part of your treatment to help with pain reduction. For certain spinal conditions, you may be considered for different types of injections to help manage your symptoms, if physiotherapy and pain relief are not helping.
