Trust celebrates first anniversary

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (HIOWH) has marked its first anniversary, reflecting on its first twelve months in operation.  

By bringing services together from the legacy Trusts on 1 October 2024, HIOWH is strongly placed to realise its ambitions for the community, mental health and learning disability services delivered in support Hampshire and the Isle of Wight residents.  

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare’s preventative, primary and community services proudly reach every neighbourhood, delivering outstanding care and helping build stronger communities.   

In year one, HIOWH highlights include:

62 High Street_Newport Health and Wellbeing Centre_Front of Building.JPGThe opening of several new community-based health hubs, ensuring we deliver care closer to home, including the South of England Rehabilitation Centre (SERC), Newport Health and Wellbeing Hub on the Isle of Wight, Fareham Child Development Centre and Andover Health Hub.

IMG_6725 IOW MSK Comm BHD Jan 2025.JPGMSK Community Better Health Days: These multi-faceted assessment days for patients with Musculoskeletal needs have supported thousands and halved wait times for these services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

marg5.jpgA big focus for our Trust is supporting people at home and helping them stay independent. In the last year, the Trust supported over 20,400 patients via our hospital at home services, preventing an estimated 8,100 hospital admissions.

CAMHS Academy (8).pngThe launch of the CAMHS Academy: With Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) under pressure across the country, we launched the first online academy in the country. The CAMHS academy is dedicated to recruitment, development and research for mental health professionals in CAMHS in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2025 - Podiatry Team award 2 crop.jpgAward wins: Seven national award wins highlighting innovative and outstanding work in areas including apprenticeships and young people’s careers, ending stalking, improving older person’s mental health and delivering ethical, patient-centred research. 

Image.jpgTo mark the milestone, the team at our Central Production Unit at Gosport War Memorial Hospital made 1,200 cupcakes. These beautiful, sweet treats were shared across our inpatient wards, ensuring patients could share in the celebrations too!
