Portsmouth Mental Health Hub celebrates its third anniversary

10 April 2026

The team at the Portsmouth Mental Health Hub have come together to celebrate three years of the service.

The hub was launched in April 2023 and has supported more than 7,600 people from across Portsmouth since then, with over 3,900 contacts in the last year alone (April 2025-March 2026).

In only three years, the hub has evolved from the telephone line it started as, and now also offers advice and support through a website, enhanced mental health access practitioners working with GP surgeries in Portsmouth, and a live web chat function for those who cannot or prefer not to speak on the phone.

Associate Director for Community Mental Health for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Abi Clarkson, said: “Three years is an incredible milestone and I’m so proud of everything the hub team has achieved in that time, they are a dedicated team who care deeply about the work they do.

“The hub was created in response to what people in the city told us they needed, and we’ve continued a collaborative approach of engaging with different communities and partners to ask what would deliver the most benefit throughout the last three years. We are very grateful to all those who continue to support us.”
During a recent evaluation exercise, a service user said: “A year ago, I was not sure how I would make it through the week. Now, I’m back at work, having EMDR therapy, socializing and feeling gratitude for my life. Without this service, that might not have been the outcome.”

Anyone aged 16+ can contact the Hub (Monday to Friday 8am- 6pm) by calling 0300 123 6621 or use the online chat service, (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm). Visit www.mentalhealthinportsmouth.co.uk/contact

The Portsmouth Mental Health Hub can help anyone aged 16+ living in or registered with a GP surgery in Portsmouth (PO1-PO6). If you are registered with a Portsmouth GP surgery but live outside of the catchment area, the Hub can still support you but connection with services in the city may vary.
