Four dedicated people – three NHS colleagues and one member of the public - have successfully completed the London Marathon on Saturday 26 April, raising vital funds for Brighterway and supporting patients and staff across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Steve, Amber, and sisters Clare and Katherine took on the iconic 26.2-mile challenge with determination and heart, pulling out all the stops on the day each crossing the finish line with impressive times:
- Katherine – 4 hours 9 minutes 16 seconds
- Clare – 4 hours 23 minutes 49 seconds
- Steve – 4 hours 44 minutes 26 seconds
- Amber – 5 hours 38 minutes 5 seconds
Their incredible efforts will help fund projects that enhance patient care and support staff wellbeing across local NHS services, making a lasting difference in hospitals and community settings.
Katherine and Clare shared: “It was an epic day! The crowds and support were immense; we loved this extra special sightseeing tour around London! There were tough times, and it was very much remembering ‘the why’ - all the people that will be helped with the money raised. Running for Brighterway was an honour, thank you!”
Amber added: “It was the most amazing day. Thank you so much for an incredible opportunity and something I will definitely never forget! Not only have we raised an amazing amount of money for a great cause, but we have also got to experience something that most people don't and for that I am so grateful.”
Steve admitted: “What an experience! Although I'd run marathons before, this is first time I was nervous beforehand so didn't sleep well the night before. Perhaps it was the great sense of the occasion - and as it turned out we were all making history as the highest number of finishers in a marathon (Guiness World Record title).”
A spokesperson for Brighterway said: “A massive thank you to Steve, Katherine, Clare and Amber for taking on such an enormous challenge. To run the London Marathon is no small thing, and they should be incredibly proud of themselves. They’ve all also done a fantastic job in representing Brighterway and helping to raise support and awareness of the charity along the way.”
Together, they raised an amazing £6,000 for Brighterway, making a real difference and showing fantastic generosity from everyone who supported them along the way.
Although race day has passed, donations are still open. If you would like to support the runners you can do so here: https://
